Urban Travel Pack
in collaboration with People for Urban Progress*
* PUP is an Indianapolis-based non-profit that up-cycles donated and salvaged soft materials. The proceeds earned from selling these products are put back into their community in the form of bus stops and public art displays.
PUP’s urban progress mission appeals to younger generations but their products don’t.
How can we change that?
Young people today are encouraged to get out and explore the world around them and they’re looking for products that make these expeditions as painless as possible. That means versatile pieces with plenty of easy access storage that can adapt new adventures and the professional to personal transition just as fast as they can.
After constructing the pack I took it on the ultimate test drive, a six-week trip literally around the world. I packed and repacked through Japan, Spain, and Ireland. I flew about 21,750 miles and stayed in 8 different cities. The pack was a perfect overnight bag and carry-on. In future models, I would switch out the front panel zippers for a waterproof model and add snaps to the roll-top corners for more secure closure.
